We use Patterson along with Open Dental. It works fairly well. The only issue we've come across is if we change a patient's name (spelling) or SSN after we've taken an x-ray. That will make it link to a new "patient" in Patterson. Other than that it's been pretty seamless.

When using the user query in Open Dental it automatically converts columns with PatNum to the patient's name.
