Re: Are those my teeth?
I do hear it a lot! Patients seem to find the graphics much more interesting than their digital panoramic image.

Re: Emailing referral form times out
I just got off the phone with Randy at Open Dental. He was able to solve this email timing out problem for me by changing the port to 465. We left SSL unchecked, despite me using Gmail. It had been successful for me in the past with the SSL unchecked, as well. Hope this helps someone else. Now I'll ...

Re: Tooth chart missing
Jeff,
Thanks, your suggestion worked great. I unclicked the "use display accelerator" and hit apply. Now I can see the tooth chart. Big help!

Re: **potential newbie**
I don't know of an currently available DOS program, but I started using Softdent DOS in 1989 and updated/upgraded it regularly as long as DOS versions were available. I knew other Softdent users who had problems with the early windows versions, so I thought I'd wait a little. For one reason or anoth...

Re: Child Fluoride
I agree that, if possible, there be a global default that users can choose, then also the ability to override this in the insurance plan. Re: age 12 global default. Kansas Delta, by far the state's major insurer, has set the code change at age 14 regardless of mixed versus adult dentition.

Re: Intraoral Camera from Ebay
I'm considering intraoral camera options. Does anyone have advice about cameras that have worked well with Open Dental?

Re: Insurance processing issues
We are doing the same with Blue Cross as you do with Delta. It works well for us. Probably the only difference between what you do and what we do is that you are probably successfully sending the claim in electronically, and we are printing and sending the the Blue Cross claim by surface mail becaus...

Remote employee ideas
Does anyone have experience/suggestions for valuable work that an employee could do using remote access? She will be out of state. From my reading on this board, we could set up LogMeIn or something like that. We have only used OpenDental for about six months, so we are continuing to discover its ca...

Re: Insurance processing issues
To clarify, there are a few insurance companies, like the local Blue Cross, that will not allow the patient to assign benefits to the provider if the dentist is not a participating provider. For our patients with that Blue Cross coverage, for example, Blue Cross will send the benefit check only dire...

Re: Insurance processing issues
We have had similar problems. We've given up for a while and are back to paper claims and filing directly online with the insurance company. The folks at Tesia were good to deal with, perhaps the problems we have are a combination of client density and geography. Like you, most of our patient's insu...

Re: dental senders integration
Anthony, Want to thank you again for your time showing us Open Dental in action. We have really been happy with the program and are just beginning to scratch the surface on its capabilites. It was a great move for us (from Softdent). Without seeing Open Dental for ourselves in your office, though, w...

Re: Dual monitors
Thank you. I'm now in the process of getting estimates for my hardware. Got the local one today, but it isn't making sense to me yet. I'll talk to the dealer tomorrow. I also see that Dell is having some specials that I'll check. Like everyone else, I want to find as much machine as I need to optimi...

Dual monitors
I am beginning to get new hardware for our conversion to Open Dental. I see in the User Manual that 19" LCD monitors are most recommended. We saw the advantage of dual monitors at the front desk at Tony's office (thanks for making us feel more comfortable with our move to Open Dental!), but I think ...
