Re: The API and HIPAA compliance
This is my position, and loosely, the position of Open Dental at this time, and is not legal advice. As a third party, whether the patnum (by itself with no medical information) is PHI or not isn't really the point, the fact is that ALL third parties using the API should know they are acting as a Bu...

I was asked about this post and wanted to clarify, as the person was concerned about opening a port on their server. No, it is not currently part of eServices. It is a third party program link available to customers with proprietary third party code that is not Open Source. We may add eServices that offer Care Credit functions in the future (I like the idea).

I would add that editing appointment confirmation status for patient arrival, confirmed (which is what started the thread) is allowed with the API but I think it needs to be improved, because it was designed to match the FHIR specification, and instead we need to expand it to allow for more custom s...

We are not discouraging plugins at this point and do not have plan to end support. For many of the things third parties want to do, plugins make the most sense. Yeah, I researched this so we could show Open Dental users on a map, it is expensive to purchase a control that does this programatically. I agree with JorgeBon and would add that this (enter fee schedule, use PPO percentage type, select fee sched ininsurance window) is the only way to both charge your patient the correct amount and keep track of the difference between your fee and the PPO fee (PPO writeoff). IF you care not about this...

Just a guess, but probably no procedure that triggers the recall has been completed. For instance, if a child prophy triggers the recall, and the child has never had a child prophy, then it will not be due. Alos, when you make any changes, you must allow OD to synchronize patients.

The best way to transfer the procedure codes if you do not need procedure descriptions would be to use the fee schedule export/import tool. http://www.open-dent.com/manual/feescheduletools.html If you do need them with descriptions in another OD database, you could just make a divergent copy of the ...
