Statements with unassigned clinic can't be seen in billing
I'm not sure if this is a bug or just a strange behavior. In version 24.1.31 when a patient has an unsent statement and their clinic is unassigned the statement will not show up in the billing screen. When you exit the billing screen and it asks you to delete all unsent statements, it will not delet...

I've made a post about this before, but I can't understand what I'm missing that we aren't at risk. The way Open Dental is defaulted to run is with a standard file sharing setup. Re: Report to find patients without planned appt or done check?
Does anyone have any suggestions on what parameters I can use in a custom query to call the done check box or for planned appointments that are scheduled and completed? I'm curious how other offices keep track of planned appointments. By this I mean how do you check if an old planned appointment has...

Re: Statements and Walkouts
There is an option for each statement called 'date range'. If the start date is left blank then it will print all of their history. Just use one of the quick buttons or put in the start date that you want. We usually just use the last 30 days unless we want a certain procedure or payment to show, th...

Re: How to keep track of HIPAA and other forms
Thanks Jordan! The custom patient field was exactly what I was looking for. I added a field called 'signed HIPAA' and we are going to put the date in it each time they sign the hipaa consent form. This way we know that it was done and it will be easy to find it if we need to. Since we'll be signing ...

Report to find patients without planned appt or done check?
I was looking through the planned appointment tracker and I noticed that the list is shorter than it should be. We try to always create a planned appointment or check the done box, but it seems that we are forgetting it more times than not. Is there a report or custom query that I can run that will ...

Re: How to keep track of HIPAA and other forms
That's interesting. I looked into MedicTalk's services. I'd rather not complicate things more by adding more software until we have a need for more of their features. I was planning on putting a "H" under the account urgent notes to designate if we had a signed hipaa form on file, but since it is th...

Re: Setup Real Time Services
So I finally got it to work. It turns out that you have to have electronic claims set up to use this feature. I had the real time service from dentalxchange, but it wouldn't work until I added electronic claims to my package with them. Also, for people who are getting errors it might be that you hav...

How to keep track of HIPAA and other forms
jsparks- Warning. This topic is outdated. Please skip everything and look at the very last post in this thread. We would like to start having patients sign their HIPPA and other agreement forms directly into OD. I was thinking about using the consent forms in the chart module to do this. One of my c...

One procedure is attached to two insurance claims
I came across an interesting problem. One procedure was attached to two different insurance claims that were sent out on different days. The insurance company paid for it twice and we actually did the procedure twice it just wasn't entered for some reason. I don't know how this happened but I caught...

Re: Windows 7
Seems to work just fine for me. My test machine has been running X64 windows 7 for a while now. I haven't really seen too much that works on vista and won't work on windows 7. Just be careful with 64 bit if you need drivers for various peripherals.

OD isn't billing people with payment plans
We just started using formal payment plans just over a month ago. We now have three payment plans that I know of. One of the payment plans is working properly and sends bills out each month. The other two are not automatically creating bills. I have tried playing with the dates. I also deleted and r...

Re: Setup Real Time Servcies
Hi, I'm using version 6.7.19. It's release not debug. Also, I have the real time eligibility service with them but I do not have the electronic claims with them. That could be causing the problem. Their electronic claims service is more than twice as expensive as webmd is for us so hopefully it will...

Insurance claim bug/feature request
If an insurance claim hasn't been paid or if there is a problem and we need to send more information we will print or resend the claim electronicly. If we do either of those then the date sent will reset to today. This makes it useless to track unpaid claims. I have found a few claims that are a cou...

I use a similar setup. I have RealVNC servers on all my computers and I use the Jaadu VNC app on my iphone to access the computers. Re: What to do with secondary claims when they aren't needed
Thanks for the quick replies. I'm going to try and mark them received with a note. Hopefully that will go over ok with our office manager, shes not a big fan of "extra" items on the screen. If she doesn't like it then she'll just have to manually fix each procedure like Jorge suggested.

What to do with secondary claims when they aren't needed

We have been deleting the claim, but that makes all the procedures show unsent. This is very inconvenient because then we have to go into each procedu...

Need a Query for recalls
Currently we have a different recall for bitewings and prophys. I assume this is how most people do it because we like to do bitewings once a year and prophys every 6 months. Since we converted our data over it seems that there are some people who have the prophy recall activated but not any bitewin...

Re: Bridge left after teeth are extracted
Having the option to not show graphics for each procedure would be a really powerful option. Its one of those things that you don't think about until you run into a situation where you need it.

Re: Bridge left after teeth are extracted
Thanks for your response. I think that a hide graphics option would be only a so-so workaround (unless there was a check box in each procedure). The next step is to place implants, abutments, and crowns. If we hide the graphics then it will hide our planned work and newly completed work. I'm not sur...

Bridge left after teeth are extracted
A bridge was done a few years ago on 4 posterior teeth. They were recently extracted and now the bridge still appears. I can't find anyway to remove the crowns graphics from the chart. There must be someway to do this even if it's a manual override setting of some sort.
Thanks for your help,

Is there anyway to see when an appointment was scheduled
Our employees want to be able to easily check when an appointment was scheduled. This affects how they want to confirm the appointment. Also, it would be helpful to see who scheduled it. The only way I can see how to do this is through the audit tool, but that isn't practical to check every time. Th...

I think there is something I don't understand. If the insurance estimate is off by $10 or $100 you still have to go in manually and edit the amount after the fact. Also, if you billed the patient for the estimated amount and you were wrong, you are still going to have to bill them a second time to b...
