Re: Electronic Signatures beta 16.4 question
Thank you, I'm glad you like the new feature. Do theses electronic signatures hold up legally as good as using a Topaz pad? Maybe, it would depend on the circumstances. e-Signatures cannot be matched to a user's handwriting, so you must prove that only one person could have produced it digitally. To...

Re: SMS from Unassigned Patient
I've just added Feature Request #5046 "Integrated Texting, better handling of "unassigned" phone numbers" to the feature request system. Please vote and comment from the Request Features dialog from the Help menu in Open Dental. I hope it covers the gist of what you were looking for.

Re: Recommendation for small footprint workstation
There are many new small form factor pcs that should work very well. My personal opinion is to make sure to find something that runs a newer version of windows, my preference is Windows 10. Looking for a "bare-bones" or "mini-pc" should give you plenty of ideas to sort through. More personal prefere...

Re: Wireless # automatically gets a US format
drawab, I'm glad it was such a simple fix to your issues. It is safe to change the DB language and region setting, then it will warn you on each computer not yet switched to English (India) when you launch Open Dental. The setting in the DB has no real effect, it is just a preference of convenience ...

Re: What should I install? Windows 7, 10 or Windows Server
For what it's worth, we try to keep at least a few of the major Windows operating systems in use here at ODHQ. Personally, I have been using Open Dental on a Windows 10 machine for several months now with no problems. We also have techs and engineers that use Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and w...

Re: SMS text messageing
Open Dental now offers Integrated Text Messaging. This feature is built directly into Open Dental and allows two way texting, automated recall reminders, and is priced competitively. For more information read the Integrated Texting page in our manual. http://opendental.com/manual/textintegrated.html .

Those sound like great ideas. I just looked through the feature request system and could not find anything for "Routing slip automation." Please create a feature request and describe some of the particulars you would like to see in the completed feature.

Re: Time card entry error
Can you run the following query and post the result? If not, can you please call Open Dental at 503-363-5432 and ask for Ryan.
SELECT * FROM timecardrule WHERE OverHoursPerDay>0 ORDER BY EmployeeNum;
I should be able to determine if this is a data issue or a bug from your query results.

DR MK PILLAI,
It looks like there may be either two separate time card rules for Dr. Ninad Khatal, or there could be a conflict between a timecard rule for everyone and the timecard rule for Dr. Khatal.

Re: Middle Tier on Linux
kiOak, The short answer is that the middle tier service uses less CPU/Memory than a workstation and will run on a desktop computer or a server. The middle tier service is installed on top of Internet Information Services (IIS) which is a Microsoft product. Microsoft recommendations can be found here...

Re: text reminders
The phone number that the patient's see is the phone number that is assigned to your practice. It should not change and your patients should be able to add it to their phone books. Open Dental cannot currently send the practice name instead of a phone number, but you can add the practice name to the...

Re: One week pay period for time cards
The default pay period is hard-coded to be two weeks. Feature requests 524 "In pay period setup, better control over intervals" and request 239 "Automatically create pay periods" sound like they might be useful to you.

I know that we have had some bugs in the past with our middle tier serialization in conjunction with language and region settings. What language/region are you using on your workstation, your server, and in the IIS settings on your server?

Re: MYSQL Networking Problem
Franz,
It sounds like Open Dental cannot save some of your settings. Without getting into too many details, I think you can fix the problem by right-clicking on your Open Dental icon and "Run as Administrator." This is no guarantee, but it may resolve your problems. Let us know if that works.

Re: Open Dental Database Goes Mobile
Yes, Open dental can do ANYTHING*! Packet loss can be a problem in any network, but it can hit a replication network pretty hard. If you are going to "go mobile" and only connect with your main server when you get back to the office then this shouldn't be a big problem for you since the satellite co...

Re: Deleted image folder contents
I'm not sure what is happening in your production environment but I can tell you that Open Dental does not delete or clean up anything in the images folder. We have seen some third party software directly manipulate the files in the A to Z folder, but that is fairly uncommon. It is much more likely ...

Re: Open Dental Database Goes Mobile
I apologize for using the "R" word, but Open Dental can do all of that by using "Replication". Replication is a powerful technology built into MySQL. Open dental supports this replication through the use of key-ranges and random primary keys. Details can be found in the online manual here: http://op...

Re: Procedure Edit Window - Refresh needed
We took a look at the code and it looks like every time the procedure edit window is launched the notes are pulled directly from the database. Is there a series of steps that we can take that will guarantee that this issue will be recreated? This might be happening because the procedure notes have n...

Re: ? of Audit trail bug
Good news, the bug has been fixed in in versions 7.9.17 and 10.0.4 but hasn't been released yet. Now, when creating a recall appointment directly on the schedule an entry is made in the audit trail. If the appointment is first sent to the pinboard no audit entry will be made until the user moves the...
