The point might not be the trial version per say, but the version itself. I'm just saying that when I had the problem, I was using the trial version available on the site (which is 7.x) and after the upgrade it became 11.x. I'm 100% sure that even with proper regional settings the 7.x trial version ...

1) and 2) were only issues in the trial version. After updating to the full version those problems ceased to exist.
