Compatability between open dental and quickbooks

Post by shellydmd » Sat Jul 17, 2010 3:50 pm

I am buying a practice that currently uses Eaglesoft and want to make a change to a chartless system. How compatable is open dental with quickbooks? Is it difficult to get the records transferred from Eaglesoft to open dental?
Thanks
Shelly

We don't have any integration with QB. We instead chose to build our own internal accounting:

It has tight integration with the cashbox and with deposits. It's just as easy to use QB, though. Except for the cashbox, you will only have one daily deposit to enter into QB every day. Automating that task wouldn't save a huge amount of time. Our accounting software has the following disadvantages: Limited reporting, no check printing, no payroll. But our accounting is also less annoying to use, especially in the area of reconciles.

Transferring the records is easy, but it won't be a perfect transfer. No transition from one software to another will be able to capture 100% of the data. One example is that your insurance percentages will be defaulted to 100-80-50 after the transfer.
