Changes to insurance plans in 7.5

Post by richardwaite » Mon Jan 17, 2011 9:49 am

I have a question about the changes to the internal representation of insurance plans in version 7.5 (see http://opendental.com/manual/version7_5.html). On that page you mention that this change will be the foundation for other exciting features - could one of those features possibly be allowed fee schedules by plan (which was discussed way back when the "blue book" feature was first introduced here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1231&start=0)?

Yes. We need to get all those automatic allowed fee schedules out of the current fee schedule interface and instead build a tool directly into the InsPlan interface. The tool should let users see historical trends for each code and fine-tune what the future estimates should be for each code.

We just officially named that feature Blue Book because all the other names were too hard to remember. There is a new page in the manual addressing this feature and its shortcomings.
