Perio Charting

Post by helliwell » Wed Jan 26, 2011 7:46 am

I am checking out the trial version with a trial data conversion. Two questions:
1. At recalls, we record probings, but also record gingival recession levels to monitor any changes in root exposure. It appears that the perio chart only allows for measuring this on the initial exam. Does the current version allow for serial charting of recession levels?
2. In the chart screen, after a procedure is entered, a separate entry for the "appointment" remains in addition to the procedure entry. Seems redundant and clutters up the chart notes. In the user manual, the "appointment" entry doesn't appear to remain in the chart notes. Does it just disappear after a time period?

Also regarding the trial version...would it make sense to have the trial version completely up to date rather than version 6.9? That way a potential user could fully evaluate all the capabilities of the system? Just a thought... thanks for help!

1. Yes, you can easily record gingival recession on any area as needed on any later exam. You will notice a subtle color change. The bolder and brighter numbers are for the current exam, and the more muted numbers are for previous exams. You can't compare changes at a single site unless you click back and forth between the two exams. At least not yet.
2. You can hide appointments from the view tab at the top of the Chart module.

We're working on a new trial version.

I knew you'd have the answer! Got the recession charting figured out, but the extra appointment line in chart notes not yet.

I don't see the "view" tab at the top of the chart module. Do you mean "display fields" in setup? I tried that but no changes. I'm talking about the redundant line item in progress notes whose colors can be changed in "definitions/prog notes colors/past appointment". I tried changing the colors of text and background to gray to effectively block it out, but still distracting and then the "make/find appt" screen gets screwed up, too. I must be dense...

On the flip side, if the "past appointment text" color is set to light gray and the background white, it acts as a separator between appointments in Prog Notes. Maybe that's a good thing? Don't you just hate newbies that try to "help"?????

Sorry, I meant the "Show" tab.
