How to have a red "X" over missing teeth?

Our office would like to know how to put a red "X" over missing teeth. When we highlight the tooth and click missing, only the surface disappears. Thank you in advance. :D

This happens when you have Simple Tooth chart as your graphics mode. If you switch to DirectX or OpenGL, the whole tooth will disappear when you mark it as missing.
