Multi thread optimization: Quad core or Dual core?

Post by haddon » Sun Feb 24, 2008 4:57 pm

I have been looking to upgrade my computer, and with these new intel 45nm chips that just came out I am very excited.
I was just curious if anyone is running the quad core intel chips and was curious if they run faster on open dent..... is open dent well configured for multithreaded tasks?
Because the dual core 3.2ghz is about the same cost as the quad core 2.5, and which one is "faster" depends on the applications.
Thanks for any suggestions,
Haddon

We use multithreading in a few places, but not very extensively. One place where we do use it heavily is when changing the brightness/contrast on an image. I would guess that you would notice an improvement there, but no guarantees. Overall, OD is not very processor intensive.
