Looking for IT support for implementing Clinics

Post by odnewb » Thu Oct 31, 2024 3:36 pm

Hi
We have opened a second locations and originally scheduled the patients from our main locations using the clinics feature.
We would like to implement a seamless operation whereby the providers and the patients can go both locations seamlessly.
The new location has a newer server and clinics database has been since moved to that server.
It is fairly new and the process is not well understood or established.
Is there someone who can help with this?

Hi there,

Allen had shared the following information in a other thread. I think this would help you out too:
I recommend looking through the following page to find a local IT vendor that will work for you.
https://www.opendental.com/site/vendorscomputer.html
The page is broken down by state and California is further specified by area.

I hope this helps find an IT vendor that will help with your needs
Here is the link to the original thread:

On your second location all you need to do is to install the Open Dental Client. For this, you need an SDWAN or a Site-to-Site VPN configuration between the two offices- and preferably a Microsoft active directory domain- to manage users and permission efficiently to access the main server.

Depending on the speed of your ISPs, you may or may not need a remote desktop solution. There are several solutions available in the market including Microsoft Remote Application, Citrix, Parallels etc. I've used TSPlus with a degree of success. I didn't see you mentioning digital Xray so I assume that this is not a requirement. You may also want to look into Open Dental replication, although, I am not big fan of replication. I've deployed OD for a client of mine here in Florida and I didn't have to use any remote desktop solution. He found it fast enough to work in the second office.

Once you deploy the clients on your second location. You can have one server, one database and multiple clinics just like you do now.

Hi,

If you are still on the lookout for someone I would be happy to help you out as I have worked with multiple clinic migrations and understand the challenges of maintaining seamless operations across locations.
I have alot of experience with server configurations and database merging for healthcare facilities.

Let me know if you would like to discuss this further. I can share some similar case studies where I successfully implemented multi location solutions.

You can reach out to me on my email here
