Group NPI

Post by drtech » Mon Dec 15, 2008 11:53 am

Where do I put a group NPI to show under the billing dentist? I have been filing with just individuals for a year or two now, but one ins company is asking for my group # and I can't figure out where to put it. Do I just create a separate provider with my Group name and NPI and then select that as billing NPI?

op, doing a search on the forum gave me the answer I think..create a dummy office provider just like I thought. Is this the preferred method?

Yes, that's what we do. A dummy provider for the group NPI is set as the default billing provider in the practice and/or clinic setup. Only thing I found is that it requires a state license # - but I just use 0 and it works.
