Aging Report - 2 questions

Post by atd » Wed Apr 01, 2009 2:20 pm

1) Is it possible to back date the aging date? I have the "Calculate Aging Monthly Instead of Daily" box in the Setup->Modules checked. I use the last date of the previous month for my aging date when I run month-end reports. However this month the date was updated to the first of the month by mistake. I tried to use the "Tools->Calculate Aging" to back date the aging as of March 31st, but it didn't work. When I went to each affected account individually the balance updated properly, but the tool didn't do it automatically. Is this by design or a bug?

2) I have a patient showing up on the Aging report rather than the guarantor. This patient was previously their own guarantor, but now someone else in the family is the guarantor. Are the aging amounts supposed stay with the original guarantor on the account even if it changes, or is this a bug? I tried running the database maintenance tool but nothing changed. This is also affecting my custom aging query, which has a column for writeoffs by procedure date. Since the insurance writeoffs are linked to the new guarantor on the account, but the balance is linked to the old guarantor the writeoffs are being excluded from the report because they don't match up. If this is by design then I'll need to figure out how to fix my query, but I thought I'd check first.

Thanks!

1. I think you should be able to use the aging tool to set the aging to whatever date you want. However, dates that are in the "future" from the aging date are not going to be taken into account. So you can't go back to try to get snapshots of how it was in the past. But setting it to 6 days ago should not be a problem. I will need to know what version you are using and whether you have set daily or monthly aging in the module setup window.

2. Only guarantors should show on that list. Are you sure there's not a second patient with the same name. Again, it depends on the version you are using as to the specific behavior.

At the time I was using version 6.5.6. I just upgraded to 6.5.11 yesterday.

1) I wouldn't want to set the aging to a future date, I'd just like to be able to back-date it if it gets updated before I've printed month-end reports. I currently have it set to calculate the aging monthly.

2) No, there is no second patient with the same name. I know that she was initially her own guarantor when she accrued the balance, then someone else was added to the family and set as the guarantor. But the patient is showing on the aging receivables rather than the guarantor.

OK, both fixed for 6.5.13.
