Looking At Kodak Digital X-rays

We just had the Kodak guy here trying to sell us his digital radiography and pan machines...6100 sensors and 8000 or 9000 pans. Anyone using them and what do you think? Also does the software bridge well with OD? (I don't see the bridge listed as supported in the Links Menu of OD.

No. Try something a bit less proprietary. We do have two different bridges under Trophy. Here's the page that describes them:

So what is everyone's opinion of XDR, Owandy, Suni, ev2...and what is the best for ease of use with OD plus good prices? I may be looking at installing a digital Pan too with future capabilities to 3d, but cost I think might be very prohibitive, so we shall see. At this point I have a very open mind.

The most popular "open" software solution will be XDR or Apteryx. We have XDR. I would suggest you check out both of them. For both systems, you can pretty much use any sensors you like except Kodak, Dexis, and ImageRAYi (a modified e2v works with Dentrix Imaging). XDR just came up with the e2v sensors without the interface box. I will check that out, too. You may go to Dental Town to ask around about the price of XDR plus e2v sensors. Dr. Lavine has been a big advocate for XDR. I would assume the whole system will cost you betwen 10,000 and 15,000 including everything (2 sensors, tax, training...). The latest Dexis sensors don't have interface boxes, either. I think more and more sensors will have versions without the interface boxes.

I use Apteryx, Owandy, and have a Planmeca Panorex, all work well with OD. I agree with previous post's in getting products that are not restrictive or proprietary . SH

Thanks for the Advice...just talked with XDR today and tomorrow I will have a remote demo. Sounds like their new e2v sensors without the box are the way to go! Still not sure about the best digital pan though... Anyone else?

I am really interested in xdr system. I am concerned about service and longevity of the company. It is a small company and I want to feel comfortable it will be here tomorrow. Any thoughts?
