How many users are there?

I was talking to my Patterson rep yesterday and he was asking me when I will be converting to EagleSoft. I told him I have just converted to OD, he was shocked and said he "never heard of them" -- a likely story, but did ask me how many users there are. I said I had no idea but would ask. Any numbers to let us know about? Thanks

Roughly 2000. It's time for us to attempt another count. The reason I can't give a better number off the top of my head is that not all the users are signed up with us for support. Some are signed up with other companies for support http://www.open-dent.com/manual/resellerlist.html , so we have to go around and ask those other companies how many users they have and then add it all up. Because we've only been around for 5 1/2 years, and because we have no advertising budget, it is understandable if the rep hadn't heard of us. There are also about 100 total dental software programs out there, so it's a little daunting for new users. But for the ones who take the time to do a little research, they will find us, and over time, it will become less common for someone to have not heard of us. We have big plans for the future.

You could also add that there are Open Dental users all around the world. I find it hard to believe that a sales rep for dental software hasn't heard about his competition.

Any idea what that number is up to now? What about in the Canadian market?

We're probably at about 3000 to 4000 total. Canadian users is probably under 100 because we're just now getting certified for CDAnet. We expect the number of Canadian users to go up significantly.
