whishlist

Post by Alexander Hegi » Sat Feb 07, 2009 1:11 pm

Dear Jordan,

I am impressed with the service you are giving towards the dental community.
Your contribution cannot be overemphasized.

Recently I entered a lot of patient into the programme and had a continuing exposure to items that in my view will greatly contribute towards a more efficient use of time.

I will give you some examples:

1. The term “statement” does not have legal implications in Australia: the term “tax invoice” does. If a tax invoice does not say tax invoice, legally it is no tax invoice. That means that legally I am in breach of the law. Can you tell me how to change this, please? I realize that not many voters will vote for this, for Australia does not have many users, but the law is the law.
2. Your programme is not very keyboard oriented. Often a simple enter would suffice, however it is necessary to click the mouse to go to a next field or close the window. E.g. in chart, edit all: date adjustment: enter would be simpler than getting the hand to the mouse and aim and click. The same is true for entering field for a new patient as I found out by entering about a hundred patients.
3. Week review. Often I am more interested in a week production than a day production. This is less variable. Can you include this in the reports?
4. Recognition of name and first name: when looking for a patient can you make it possible to look for a combination of names, like Jordan and Sparks will both suggest Jordan Sparks.
5. It is hard to find an address, for the street name is not recognized, the number is. Can you change this?
6. I understand that the programme is aimed at the American market. Insurance data are never used, nor the diagnosis of disease.
7. When entering patient information, the foremost important fields that I want to enter quickly are last name, first name, address, suburb (can that be autofill: e.g. by entering “new” the suggestion “new york” comes up and all I do is enter) (in Australia one postcode can have two suburbs: 2122 has Eastwood and Marsfield), most of my patients are all living in the same state, why can that not be standard NY (or NSW=New South Wales). I cannot tab from address to city to state to postcode. Then telephone number. This would make my life much more simple and quick. Now I have to use the mouse on multiple occasions to switch fields. I rarely adjust providers, recall methods, address and phone notes, and I am not really interested in student status. I am however interested in a profession.
8. Is there a way to fix a tooth? If I want to do multiple procedures on one tooth like endo, post, core crown or multiple fillings I have to select the tooth again and again: it would be nice if I can control click select and control click unselect a tooth. Idem extraction and implants.
9. To pay and print out a statement takes 10 steps. Can that made more efficient? I describe some steps. A patient pays a RCT for $500 by cheque. I want to leave two messages on the statement (thank you, Dr Alexander Hegi and if you are unhappy, tell us; if you are happy, tell others) To make the latter quicker I now use the programme Fastfox (great). In open dental I do the following: I click accounts, payment, cheque (sorry we use the British spelling: we call wireless phones mobiles), pay, OK. Then I go to statements, open select more options, enter my messages, select single patient, select today, enter my messages and print. If I make a mistake I cannot easily correct this I have to do a lot of the steps again. There seems a lot of space around in the chart module: can I have a few buttons for settling on the day for the total amount by buttons called cheque, credit of money machine /ATM/FPos(Australian). Most if not all of my patients settle after my treatment, I have only a few (less than 10) people who owe me money. It strikes me as a lot of pressing buttons for a simple thing. Likewise the 0-30 31-60 etc aging days is not necessary.
10. Could you couple gender and title: a Mrs is always female and married, a Mr is always male, can you suggest a salutation, without specifying it every time.
11. It is hard to make alternative treatments visible for one tooth. Endo or exodontia makes a lot of financial difference that I would like to present on paper without different priorities.
12. Can I get rid of the quick buttons? I use an Australian financial scheme and clicking on the MO or MOD fields does not make any difference.
13. How do you define posterior and anterior. For me a premolar is posterior, for orthodontists a canine already is one if I recall correctly. Your programme does not let me do a posterior filling in a premolar.
14. I always have to define a upper denture as in the upper jaw, can I fix this in the procedure list.
15. Most preferred names are also the first names, can you suggest this?
16. Can you automatically calculate the discount if the amount is 10%
17. I would like to raise my fees with 2.3%, in line with inflation. This is not allowed: I can only enter whole numbers.
18. I find it hard to delete procedures. Can this made easier like in the past. Now I have to make everything into a treatment plan and then delete.
19. Entering data in the patient select field is only possible for the name, can you make this possible for more that this data

OK,

two more: can you make the background of the medical history coloured at request: green is ASA I, yellow ASA II, red ASA III or IV. A quick scan on the colour is sufficient.
can you make it possible to enter lenghts with teeth: overall length 20mm, working length 18.5, master file 18mm and this for multiple canals?

What version are you using? I thought we made some changes to the statements in 6.3 specifically for Australia.

As for the other requests, they belong in the request features system. They are all reasonable, but we really need to have them organized. But one thing about requests is that you have to get used to the program and make sure it's not a training issue first. It sounds like you have been using it for a while, so you might be ok there.

A few of the requests are probably actually training issues:
6. See easy options.
13. Premolar is posterior. You can do a posterior filling on a premolar. Try looking at substitution codes in procedurecode setup.
15. Just leave preferred name blank.
18. Delete from inside the procedure.
19. I don't understand this one.

Dear Jordan,

Thank you for your reaction.

I am using 6.1.14, I cannot update to 6.3 or 6.4, my update screen does not indictate there is a newer version available.

I will request the individual items in the features system, I just wanted to post them all and see how reasonable I am. Thanks for stating that -my wife won't always agree (and she may be right) (at times).
I have used the programme for 7 months now, and entred all the data myself. My assistant does not know how to operate a computer.

Thanks for the itemised reaction.

Ad 18. I find this slow and less practical than being able to do this from outside
Ad 19: I can add a first name and last name and then add patient. All the other patient data is not transferred into the new sheet.

If your update screen doesn't show a newer version, then it means you are not in our system as a current customer on support. You probably need to get back on monthly support. I think the feature request system will also not be available until you do that.

18. We intentionally make it difficult to delete completed procedures. I think that is a good thing.
19. Oh. I get it. Why don't you enter that info in the patient edit window? That's how it was designed.
