open dental and open office integration?

Has anyone used open office with open dental. I have read it can be done? with 23 computers and growing windows word is getting expensive

I only use open office, the only thing is the mail merge feature does not work, but in you need that just buy Word for one station and all you mass mailings from there.

open office 3.0 does support it

Maybe, but not any automation that I could find. How do I launch it from OD? With Word, I can control their objects with commands. You know, like instructing it to load files, perform the merge, print, etc. I can't control OOo.
