Payment plan bug

Post by kailangyu » Sat Jul 25, 2009 10:48 pm

There appears to be a bug in the Family Balances panel within the Payment window.

We are a pediatric dental practice. When I click on the payment button to open the payment window, I see negative balances under the guarantor (parent)! (Usually, the parent would have no treatment, and no balances!) It turns out the negative balances arise when we set up a payment plan for one of the children, and whenever the parent / guarantor pays, the payment is deductede against the running balance of the guarantor!

In reality, the balance for the guarantor should not change when we simply apply payment to a payment plan. For example, if we go to the account module, the rightmost panel showing the Family Balances does not do this. Applying a payment toward the paymnent plan does not change the running balance for the guarantor.

Is this a known problem? Or am I misunderstanding something?

So on the guarantor's actual account screen, the balance is correct, but inside the payment window, the balance is negative? Am I understanding this correctly?

Yes! Guarantor's account should be 0 (since no service was ever done) - which is what the account module shows. But inside the the payment window, the balance is negative (the amount being the cumulative amount guarantor paid to the payment plan).

I've added it as a bug. Thanks.
