network setup

I've set up a network at work, connecting my server with my laptop via a wireless router. Having vista doesn't make set-up easy. My laptop now recognizes my server, but with opendent, i'm not sure which settings to change. I've made the opendent files on the server available for sharing. not sure about the window that comes up when i open opendent on my laptop:
choose sever- i've put in "CORE2"(the name of my server). but then the second dialogue box : do i change the z directories to c? doesn't work. when i tried changing it to SERVER\\\etc, it also didn't work. what to do?

Disable windows firewall or alternatively you need to click on exceptions and add a port for the mysql engine. The manual explains this.
The other thing to check is if you can see other computers in the my network places. If you cant its probably something else like dhcp and needing to manually put in settings.
