Cannot understand Payment

Can someone please simplify this for me, it makes no sense. How do i get a balance in?

Insurance payment from an EOB, or patient payment by check?

I've been doing the tutorial today and im up to Account
But what i don't understand is how to get a balance to pay
when ever i select account, the balance is always 0.00 even though they would've had an appointment

You must enter completed procedures in order to have a balance. Just because they had an appointment doesn't mean they had any procedures on that appointment unless you enter them. You might benefit from an online demo.
