upgrade issue, table already exists

Post by tudobat » Wed Jun 29, 2011 1:49 pm

Hi,

I am trying to upgrade to v7.8 from v3.6.5 (it's old) and am getting this error:

Table 'payplancharge' alreadys exists
Conversion unsuccessful. Your database is now corrupted and you cannot use it. Please contact us.

Here is what I did:
Downloaded v7.8 using Tortoise SVN
Compiled using MS VS C# 2010 Express Edition
Installed Trial v6.9.22 (server configuration) to another PC running Windows XP Professional
Saved a copy of opendental directory
Copied new executable and libraries to C:\Program Files\Open Dental\
Copied ConversionPlans directory to the same location for the executable
Stopped MySQL service and copied opendental directory from the other PC running v3.6.5 to
C:\mysql\data of the new server
Started MySQL service
Launched OpenDental and it asked to convert from 3.6.5.0 to 7.8.x.x
I selected "Maintain separate plans" option for the insurance plan.
Then I got the error as described above.

I did search the forum but did not find any issue like this. I also tried the
"Combine identical plans" option but got the same error after seeing the note in the
7.8.14 release.

OpenDental v3.6.5 uses MySQL v4.1 server

I would appreciate any help.

You should upgrade in smaller stages. If you're on support, we can do that for you here so you can go straight to a current version. But it will require scheduling a block of time where you can't use your database.
