Good Afternoon,
My office is planning to do some off site exams in the future. We are trying to prepare a plan for merging the data with the existing database at the main practice. We plan to use a laptop with an individual copy of Open Dental on it, then when we return to the office we want to be able to update only the records that we changed while we were on the road. Is there a process or query you know of to accomplish this?
Thanks,
David
Updating Info from one Open Dental DB to another...
If you are not going to make any changes to the database in your office while you are out doing the exams, it would be easy to just use the backup and restore features of Open Dental. On the other hand, if both databases are going to have changes at the same time, there's no way I know of that you could merge them both into one without messing things up. Maybe Jordan can help you with this.

You could use circular daisy chain replication.

Cool
I will look into this.. Havent heard of daisy chain replication before.... So what are the limitations if replication stops? Can you still enter data? I guess that would work ok...
Does the database or Open Dental recognize multi locations??? Or say is it like Op1-Op5 would be locaton1... Op6-Op10 could be location2...
Havent used multilocation software yet... Except for QBPOS MultiStore..

We have a Clinic feature with good support for this situation. http://www.open-dent.com/manual/clinics.html
