Laser Labels
Laser Labels
I have had several Clients ask for Laser Labels for Patients, Insurance Carriers and Custom with selection criteria not available at this time. I have been writing this code for version 5.5 and testing in 5.6 for any problems. I put a button for the laser labels on the reports screen but I wasn't sure if it should be added in some other area. I have several other requests for reports and I was going to start writing them next. Should I add a different report menu screen off of the reports menu? I will be emailing this to Dr Sparks for his review and possible addition to the OpenDental source in the next few days after further testing.

We have just been using Word or Open Office to do laser labels, because you can export the data from OD and arrange labels with whatever information you want. That way you have flexibility for minor changes; for example, some may want "Dr." on referral labels, some may want the title "DDS" or "DMD" after the name.

Laser Labels
Custom Labels are also going to be there. You will be able to add a label and how many and then add another an how many of those and so on. I have a few more items to work out for this part but its almost ready. I also added a clickable section on a label sheet that you can choose the starting position so your not wasting laser labels.

You would probably see

Maybe use #46. Export to a text file.
Follow the directions at
http://www.open-dent.com/manual/mailmergeword.html
to merge the export file with Word labels. There's a learning curve for merge. It will undoubtedly take a few hours the first time if you've never done it. But it's a very useful skill to have.
