Access denied for user- trial version

Post by aussiedentist » Fri Sep 02, 2011 12:57 am

Hi all, just downloaded and installed OD

I can get to the main screen, but there are no patients on the list!

I went through the troubleshooting page, and when I got to

6. See if the database is really running. Open C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin\mysql.exe. If you're using a different version of MySQL server, such as 4.1, then the path might be slightly different. A small black window should open and stay open. If it opens and then goes away, then you need to go to step 3 to get the server running first. If the window is open, type "use opendental" and press Enter. It should say something like "database changed". If so, then the opendental database is running successfully.

So, i typed that, and i get ERROR 1044 (42000 Access denied for user @ local host to db opendental.

I had a blank password, and didnt change anything

btw, running xp pro 2002 intel e8500 3.2gh, 3 g ram , and i had to download the .net 4 microsoft program, which i did, with no probs with that

Any ideas on what the noob is doing wrong?

Are you looking for the demo patients in the trial version? If so from the Choose Database and you'll want to change the second field "DataBase" with the drop down menu to Demo, then click OK. It should open up Open Dental and you can go to the Select Patient window and see demo patients.
