No Save as PDF option when printing progress notes

Post by wjstarck »

Sometimes I need to 'Save as PDF' instead of printing progress notes, for instance when a printer is acting up.

But this isn't an option in the OD print dialog and there doesn't seem to be a way of enabling it in the OD print settings. The option is available in other programs such as Chrome or Microsoft Edge. OD version is 24.1.77

Thanks.

Hi Bill,

It sounds like you're on a Windows system. MS provides a virtual printer driver as part of Windows called "Microsoft Print to PDF" which I use. If it is already setup on your computer, set it as the printer in OD.

1) File > Printer
2) In the Printer Setup window click on the printer pull down and select "Microsoft Print to PDF"
3) OK

If the virtual printer isn't listed check if it is installed undee Windows Printers & Scanners. If it isn't there ask your IT to i stall it or do Google search on "Install microsoft print to pdf virtual printer".

And therein lies the issue - Microsoft Print to PDF never appears as an option in the dropdowns.

A workaround is to download and install CutePDF.
