PROBLEM:If the priamry insurance pays the claim in full, I usually just delete the secondary claim - but then the notes next to the procedures come up {UNSENT}.
QUESTION: What am I doing wrong - or is this how it has to be
Thanks Tracey.
If you delete the secondary insurance claim, the software thinks that the claim still needs to be processed. We usually post the secondary insurance claim as a TOTAL payment of 0, and write in the claim note that the primary insurance paid the claim in full. This way no outstanding insurance claims remain. Not sure if that is the way Dr. Sparks intended the program to be used, but it works for us.
I think that you could also delete the claim and then open the procedures and delete the secondary insurance estimates which are attached to the procedures. I think this would also solve the problem of unsent claims and eliminate the work involved with entering a zero payment and a note to explain it.
When the problem occurs again, if you call support they can logon and show you exactly how to delete the secondary insurance estimates from the procedures after the claim is deleted.
