Create new appointment question

Post by fishdrzig » Mon Nov 17, 2008 10:11 am

If a patient calls, and I go to Create New Appointment for that patient, if there is nothing in the treatment plan scheduled, but they want wisdom teeth removed (as an example), how do I go directly to the procedure code list from there to schedule it? Or do I first have to go to Chart an enter it as treatment needed? Thanks

In the older version that you probably have, you would have to go the the Chart to enter it first. In version 6.1, you would enter it directly from inside the appointment.

When adding a procedure from the appointment window, the user is taken to the long list of procedure codes. You have to type in the Description or procedure code to find the code(s) you want.
Is it possible (programming-wise) to instead take you to a window of the list of Procedure Buttons (that are personalized...under the Quick Buttons category) you see at the top of the chart module (This would include the groupings like Recare=0120+1110+0274, so with one Procedure code click you have all 3 codes in the appointment you're generating on the fly).

I can't stress enough that treatment plans need to be done ahead of time. Nobody should ever be entering treatment from the appointment window. Yet people insist on doing it, so it is now possible. That doesn't mean I think it's a good idea to make it more efficient.

I don't disagree, but ocassionally a procedure needs to be entered and/or modified from what was originally treatment planned.
