es-MX, unable to download

Post by ottod » Fri Oct 15, 2010 1:17 am

I have used before the instructions shown here: http://www.opendental.com/manual/languages.html
to download the es-MX translation. Right now I had to reformat my workstation and redo everything, and I am unable to download the translation. Seems as if it is gone. I have everything set to México (format, location, keyboard). Can Dr. Sparks or another expert confirm this? Is there a new way to do it? Thanks.
I am running Trial 6.9.22 and I have also compiled 6.9.44 and I am unable to download translation with either one.

It works now. I do not know what is changed now but I made it work in a twisted way.
The usual way I work with OD is download and install the current trial version, then SVN the source code for the corresponding branch. I then compile the source code which is usually some subversions ahead, like this time the trial is 6.9.22 and the SVN is 6.9.44.
I tried downloading the translation with the just installed trial, and it did not work. Then what I usually do to run the freshly compiled code is take everything in bin/release and copy it over to Program Files/OpenDental. After this, I restart the program and it shows it is running the compiled version code, in this case 6.9.44. I tried then to download the translation and it did not work either. Then I posted the above question last night.
Today, fresh mind after a good sleep, by chance I decided to run directly the compiled version in its original directory bin/release, and then it worked. Because the translation is downloaded and inserted as a table in the database, now it is available also when I run Program files/OpenDental. This is weird. Can someone enlight me how is this so?
I uninstalled everything again and reinstalled and tried all three cases again and the behavior persists. Only freshly compiled code not intermixed with trial version can download language.
