Preserve previous database connection on a new client

hi there community, Im asked to develop new open dental features and then merge the new source code on the current client that is being used. I managed to compile the new source code but my issue is that, when I merge the new source code, the database connection is missing now. So Im wondering if maybe it is possible to preserve the previous database connection, if its maybe a dll file that I have leave without modification ?
