Issue with Resolution of Images

Hi all,

Our office has noticed that the Image Viewer in Open Dental does not show x-rays with the same sharpness as other programs that open the same "raw" image file (JPG, PNG, etc.), including the built-in Photos app in Windows, and other dental imaging software. This poses an issue because it requires offices to use workarounds in order to access the full resolution of their images within Open Dental (such as acquiring and/or opening the images in another software).

I have commented on Feature Request #17707 which pertains to the sharpness of images in the Image Module. Please vote for this feature request so that the Image Viewer in Open Dental will show the full resolution of the underlying image files. This will allow offices to have access to the full diagnostic information contained within the radiograph.

Thanks,
Steven

How / where do we vote for this feature request? Link or instructions would be great.

We also transitioned to the OD imaging module when XV4 went out of support.

Found it. The feature request system is built into OD. https://www.opendental.com/manual/featurerequests.html

Hmm. This wouldn't need a feature request. It would be considered a bug. So this has nothing to do with sensors. You're saying it's for any image. So it should be reproducible. I will try to duplicate. I have not seen that. What's the resolution of your monitor? What's your Windows scaling? That's the number over in your Display settings. It's usually 100% for a 1920 x 1080 HD monitor and 150% for a 4K monitor. What's your Open Dental Zoom level? Finally, what version of Open Dental are you on?

Correct, we are seeing this for all images (we particularly notice it on panoramics) We are currently running v. 24.2.47.

Display resolution is 1920 x 1080.
Windows scaling is 100%
Open Dental Zoom Level 100%

We are seeing this on all workstations, running a mix of Windows 10 and 11.
