Hi,

Can anybody please tell me how to query the database tables to obtain the list of the five patients who appear in the Select Patient dropdown on the main toolbar. When I use it the name I want has always dropped off the end of the list and I need to increase it to about 30-35 for it to be useful for quickly attending to tasks I have looked at and put aside when busy. Just the appropriate query would be fine as I am sure I can make an AHK script to run the query and open the patient's notes. If Open Dental increased the records in the dropdown it may not be of use to me as I work with Ultimo Dental which is an Australian fork.

The field patient.DateTStamp returns only those patients whose information has been updated and not those only looked at, so it is not the same list as appears in the Select Patient dropdown.

That specific information cannot be directly gleaned from a query because it is part of our software and not stored in the database. Odds are that there are several patient related audit trail entries made by your Open Dental user so you might just launch the Audit Trail window and take a quick peek there. That or maybe look for a Query Example that does something more custom to what you want.

For users using the official releases of Open Dental wanting this:
Submit a Feature Request for adding a preference that can dictate the number of patients remembered by the dropdown.

Yes it doesn't look as if I can ever get that list. Audit Trail is the same - it doesn't show a recent patient if you have only perused the record without updating. That dropdown could be a seriously handy feature but five names is of no use.

If Open Dental ever add a preference for the number of patients remembered it might filter through to my friends here at Ultimo Dental, and they also have a feature request from me.
