DIY Paperless forms advice
I am considering YAPI for paperless forms. I don't really want to pay so much considering that we probably won't use their other services. Has anyone had any success setting up tablet-based new patient paperwork, consents, and treatment plans on their own in Open Dental? I want to be able to select ...

Add space between days on week view
Is there any way to add a little space between days when using week view in the appointments module? With the way our schedule is, the operatories do not visually group together by day, and I think a little space between days would help.
Thanks,
Jack

Re: Fix query 403
I have fixed query 403 on our website examples page, please take a look at it and let me know if there are any other issues. It is now much more specific about which benefit it uses as the annual max for the plan. As Jason mentioned max will work in almost all cases (because why would you have a li...

Re: How to keep track of In House Discount Plan
We do the same as Zacky, which is the same method we use for Dentemax and Cigna discount plans. Create a claim, say it is sent, say it is received while entering no payment. The write-offs are entered automatically as for real insurance claims. You can keep track of the dates for when the plan expir...

Re: Fee Schedule/Insurance Plan Clean Up
We had the same problem. The previous person pretty much just made up the insurance information. This is how we have been doing it: 1. Got all our contracted fee schedules and updated or added them to OD. 2. Set all insurance plan fee schedules to the basic office fee schedule. 3. Combined any dupli...

Recall for two cleaning per 12 months
Is there any way to set up recall due dates so that the due date is calculated as 12 months from the second to last cleaning? This is the frequency limitation for Colorado Medicaid. Just scheduling every six months would work, but because the rule is two per 12 months, patients sometimes come in "ea...

Re: Fix query 403
This query used benefit.MonetaryAmt as the insurance annual maximum, which led to incorrect results for some patients in calculations for the amount of insurance benefits left for the year. I changed this to MAX(benefit.MonetaryAmt), which I saw used in a different query, and this seemed to result i...

Advice for file formats for importing images to sheets
Hi, I have some patient forms designed in Openoffice Draw. What I would like to do is import each form into a sheet as a static image, then just put some data entry boxes into the sheet in the appropriate places to have digital patient forms. I can do all this, but when I print out the sheet the qua...

Co-pay setup doesn't seem correct
I am trying to setup fee schedules for BCBS FEP. I have it setup and get correct estimates in the treatment plan, but the way I have to do it forces one to manually update the co-pay fee schedules any time that there is any change to any of the basic office fees. I am wondering if this is the way ev...

Fix query 403
Does anyone want to fix query 403? This would be a very useful list for us, but we seem to get wrong answers for two of the results. It gives the patients coming for appointments for a given date range along with ins carrier, benefits remaining, benefits renewal date, and total fee for the appointme...

Recall for exams when prophy is at different provider
Does anyone have any setup tips for the following situation? We have patients who get their prophys done at an independent hygienist in the next town, but get their dental work done with us. We want to setup an exam recall for these patients that is triggered by comp exams, periodic exams, and limit...

Track medicaid pre-authorizations
We just started using Open Dental today. One of my tedious manual tasks is tracking pre-authorizations for Medicaid, which are required to be approved before the date of service for certain procedures. I don't think OD has anything that does this. I was just wondering if anyone else is attempting to...
