Changing port number to 465 makes the problem go away. But 465 is not the port number on 1and1 (my ISP) email client setup guide. Port 587 is. I don't know what problems it may cause. Do you have any plan to go back to the original code, so I can use port 587? Thanks.

By default Open Dental uses the fee percentage for minor procedures for core build-up (D2950). Many insurance companies use the percentage for major procedures for D2950. The problem is that the right edge of the sender address (my address) is only 0.4 inch from the left edge of the paper. I could not find any double window envelopes will fit. Could anyone share with me where you buy th...

Questions about Tesia
I am thinking about going with Tesia for eclaims. I have computers in the ops and one computer at the front desk. One of the computers in the ops is the server, which can be accessed through logmein. I have a laptop that can hook up to the office network to access open dental. I am planning to file ...

Re: weighing the big decision
I am managing my wife's office in my spare time, too. Here are my two cents. 1. I have done my research. Open Dental is the most inexpensive option with good features. 2. I bought the computers from Dell. Go for the Home/Home Office computers. You can get a computer with 1GB of memory for $309 with ...

Security and remote access
There is a thread about remote access to Open Dental in the "Main Forum". I think this is probably the better place for my question. The architecture of Open Dental is to access the database through database connection from client to server. The OpenDentImages and OpenDentalLetters are through share...

Re: New Software
I am in software industry for almost twenty years. My wife is a dentist. I get to check out a lot of dental software at the A-D-A conventions and in many dental offices. A lot of them are not of good quality and outrageously expensive. Open Dental is a great product with latest technology (.NET and ...

Re: Intraoral Camera from Ebay
You know what? I am impressed. Mine may be better than yours if we compare them under the same situation. But I don't think the difference will be much. Next time I will pay more attention to those inexpensive cameras.

Re: Intraoral Camera from Ebay
I am sorry I don't know the answer. But I am interested in your camera. I spent $3,000 for a camera from Sota (http://www.sotaoptics.com/index.html). I thought I got a good deal. How much do people usually pay for an intraoral camera?

experience with e-claims
I am thinking about moving to e-claims. Could anyone of you share your experience? Is it really saving time? Which one do you prefer? How much cost difference is it compared with postal mail? What issues do I have to watch out? Can I do e-claims on two different machines, e.g. the one at front desk ...

Thanks for the prompt reponse. I tried it. Here is what I found. 1. The current user can still edit his own time card or delete it. 2. The user who is not current logged in user cannot even check in or check out. Not to mention edit or view the time card that doesn't belong to him. Here is the scena...

Question on time card edit rights
My office would like to use the time card function. I found that disabling "Edit All Time Card" in the security settings won't stop you from deleting or editing a time card entry no matter if that entry belongs to you or other people. And there is no trace of what has been done. It only stops you fr...

I just helped setting up an office with three computers with Open Dental. All the of them are with Vista Home Premium. I wanted to save some money and have media center functions. That is why I didn't go for Vista Business or Vista Premuim. Also I am afraid that XP support may go down several years ...

Layout of Miscellaneous Setup
All the selections in Miscellaneous Setup are right-aligned, and checkboxes are on the right ends. It is totally opposite to what people are used to. I feel dizzy when I open this page. Does anyone feel the same way? Can we change it? Thanks.

Showing weekend on appointment view
I bought Open Dental recently. Our office opens on Saturdays. It seems to me that there is no way to show Saturdays or Sundays on the weekly view of appointment module. Is there a plan to add that? Thanks.
