That is really cool.

I just put my drivers license under a free QR reader app on my phone and it spit out all my identifiers from the front of the card so it would probably be pretty easy to incorporate that into eClipboard. Saving data entry by patients and staff is always nice.

Re: Information before Converting

My office was using easydental for about 15 years, but only for scheduling and billing. It was a working mess combination of paper and computer so the staff received the possibility of the change prior to implementation pretty well. My receptionist, not being a computer person, didn't look forward t...

Re: use Synology NAS to host open dental database as spare

Well, after spending my first week on OD having one computer at a time that couldn't connect to the Share drive, I now have a virtual FreeNAS server running and all computers connected, at the same time even :D . Not sure why I had the problem, because we only have about 10 computers, but I think th...

Re: use Synology NAS to host open dental database as spare

Are you using the qnap just to store the MySQL database? Or are you actually running the MySQL server from the qnap, so that you point your open dental workstations to the qnap for the database? I Checked qnap, and the newest MySQL version they mention is 5.1 which I don't think OD will play nice wi...

Prescription Printing Solution

I write a lot of prescriptions so I really wanted a seamless, but low cost solution for prescription printing. I don't know if it can get any better than this: I bought a brother 2270DW printer for about $90, it has wired and wireless networking for that price! This will be my dedicated prescription...

Re: use Synology NAS to host open dental database as spare

I actually looked into this and almost bought hardware based on this concept. That is to have my NAS use the built in MySQL server to also serve opendental. THE PROBLEM... not even the higher end NAS's run MySQL 5, which is required, at least for the version I am using, 11.1. Once I got it all up an...

Import Insurance Carriers

On the Insurance Carriers topic online it says "Normally, carriers will be added to this list automatically for you." When and how is this done? My list is EMPTY! Are there lists of Insurance carriers available that I can import into my database? What about plans? Or are we doomed to fill in all of ...

Re: Sharing Sheets forms?

Anybody sharing their sheets out there? Seems like a lot of people are re-inventing the wheel every time they make a new sheet. A place to share these with each other would be awesome.
Is there a third party site anyone has set up to share stuff like this?

Data Security

There is password access to the open dental software, but what about the database? Are the SQL tables password encrypted in any way? I am concerned that if my server is sent for repair, or if a backup is lost, that someone could access the tables and have access to all of our patient data. This I im...

Re: Concerning Sheets/forms and Audit Trail

having tight security on the sheets/forms is something I would really like to see so I could implement OD and go paperless. I also made a nice exam sheet, but was very dissapointed to find that there was apparently no way to track changes and I even deleted a form and there is no record now that it ...

Re: EHR questions

I meet all the criteria for the incentive program, so if I get OD with the EHR what is the exact software version that I have to use? I see that the current trial download is 11.0.41, is that version certified? In order to be eligible for the money I have to stick with the certified version right? D...
