Re: Vixwin bridge
Bernard - Vixwin works just fine with OD. we've been using it for years that way. It should be in bridge mode however. You should map a network drive that points to the drive where vixwin's VxData folder is. UAC (Windows User account control) will prevent Vixwin from seeing the networked drive prope...

Re: email problem
So just to clarify: you tried both username and username@comcast.net in the Username field in Email Setup in OD? Re: How stable is 12.3 beta?
Ouch. Just reread my post, and it's not quite clear.
I haven't encountered any bugs with 12.3.1 so far, the bugs I was referring to are the occasional I've encountered while running the latest beta versions of OD.
Sorry for the confusion.

Stable thus far. We have updated to the latest and greatest in a production environment so we can anticipate problems for our clients of our software well in advance. Have there been bugs? Sure. Have any of them been show stoppers? No, not really, as OD Support staff is so on the ball and highly eff...

That's right. We have been using Carbonite to backup our OD Database for well over a year now and it backs up OD without any problems when it is running (we've restored from these backups to confirm). The only hitch seems to be if you're running plugins - sometimes the file seems to be locked by Car...

Really thoughtful and useful discussion. Just wanted to add a footnote: OD currently does not support multiple instances of the same plugin, so if you are planning to use plugins at any point, thin clients will not work. Not a big deal right now as there are not many plugin authors, but might become...

Hey Smilesbypayet-
SnagIt Pro works really well for this, and it's only $49. You can capture screenshots with a wide variety of options, and it will save them in just about any format you need.

It certainly works, but it was a little slow on images the last time I used it. It's really straightforward to setup and use.
I used it when it was free, so the performance is most likely better now that it's a paid for service.

I don't see why not. But it will have to be programmed in.
In the meantime, there's an easier way than what your doing. There are plenty of utilities that let you 'print' to a PDF file. Then just email that. Just do a search for 'print PDF free'.

Now that I look at it more closely, I also see a discrepancy. Thanks, Michael. One of the plugins or both might be installed on a user system. So yes, I'd need them to run at the same time. I see now that if I add a second distinct Load_end hook to my local copy of FormOpenDental that everything works OK: Plugins.HookAddCode(this,"FormOpenDentalA.Load_end"); P...

Re: FormOpenDental.Load_end hook problem
I confirmed this by creating 2 different versions of the PluginExample.dll code, making some changes to the second version (launching two of the same form from Plugin2 for example).
Whichever Plugin is listed first alphabetically will have its changes applied. The second one is SOL.

FormOpenDental.Load_end hook problem
I have two separate plugin projects which need to operate on the OD file menu. So each has the following in Plugin.cs (one uses FormOpenDentalA and the other FormOpenDentalT): public override bool HookAddCode(object sender, string hookName, params object[] parameters){//required method switch (hookN...

Re: Error during compile in linux!
Just for kicks, you could also try compiling OD in windows and then copy everything in the /bin/Release folder over to /usr/local/OpenDental on your Linux box. Then just $ mono OpenDental.exe and see if it launches. Saves you from alot of dependency hell trying to compile on Linux, and will give you...

What I was wanting to do was add context menu items that allowed you to jump to any module when right clicking on an appointment.
I honestly can't remember where those should go, it's been a while so I'd have to go back and look at the code.

Re: Error during compile in linux!
Sneck- I had tried to compile it on Ubuntu 10.4 before I answered your question just to see what had changed since the last time a tried (somewhere it the fives or sixes) and it was a no-go. I can't remember what the exact error was, but if I have time tomorrow I'll give it another go. Justin Shafer...

Re: Install issue on Windows 7
Is the Windows 7 box 32 or 64 bit? And OD has never been installed on it before (except for your failed install), right? What version of Windows 7? I would: 1) Disable the network adapter, so there is no connection to the server, for safety's sake 2) Uninstall OD from the Windows 7 box (if anything ...

Re: Need a new laptop
You might also consider a 64 bit laptop, on which you install a 32 bit version of Windows 7.
That way you have the luxury of moving to 64 bit when the rest of the dental hardware manufacturers catch up.

This one has bugged me for a long time
I've been looking into the concepts for a few days now, it doesn't appear too complex - so don't be surprised if this functionality is released as a plugin for a temporary fix anyways!

Re: Error during compile in linux!
The problem is that Mono is always going to lag .NET, so you're always going to be behind by several versions. Couple that with lack of resources for maintaining two versions by the Open Dental developer, and the end result it that it just isn't realistic to support Linux at this point in time. Mark...

Re: Footer for progress chart
That would have to be added programmatically. One work around I can think of is to create a dummy procedure code called 'footnote' which you complete for the current date. Of course, this would only show at the bottom of the last page, which is probably not what you want. What did you have in mind f...
