Canadian Lab Fee Issue

Post by tomle » Fri Aug 29, 2014 8:11 am

Hi all canadian offices

When I attached a lab fee, $100, (99111) to a procedure (14611) and started a new eclaim, only the procedure (14611) get the insurance estimate, and the lab fee is assigned to patient portion. Because of this, the patient now owes $100 instead $20, patient has 80% insurance coverage. OD support said that is the way for canadian eclaim. Other softwares, Exan, Cleardent, Maxident, etc.. all calculated the insurance est. for the lab fee.

Does any other canadian office have this problem? And how do you get around that?

I think most offices find it more useful to send a preauthorization to get the true estimates. See http://opendental.com/manual/preauth.html. The response to the preauthorization will show the estimates for the lab on the same line as the procedure.
