We've been using this combination since June, and it has worked great. However, we have a few patients with secondary insurance. When the primary insurance payment is received, the secondary claim gets sent, but I get a validation error listed on the Claimconnect site that says "This claim is identified as a secondary claim. Please upload an image of the primary payer's EOB." We don't, however, receive an NEA attachment request for that EOB.
Is there a way to "manually" upload the primary EOB image without receiving the attachment request from NEA?

Hi Macadoo,
We saw your question and hope this tutorial can be of some service.
In order to manually upload an image you will create what is called a Stand-Alone attachment in your NEA software and add the NEA number to the claim. This can be done by following the below steps:
1. Login to NEA FastAttach software
2. Select New/Search
3. Locate the existing patient by using patient look up fields or create a new patient by selecting New Patient
4. Select Screen Capture and take an image of the file. You can also select Scanner then follow the scanner instructions to upload the image
5. Select the type of attachment (PA, X-ray ETC) and date taken if applicable then select Next to complete the image
6. Select Claims or Prior Authorization and enter Date of Service if applicable
7. Option “Did the payor request this attachment?” should remain set as No unless you have received this request from the payer
8. Select Save
9. Select Send
10. Copy NEA number provided to the appropriate field in OpenDental when creating the claim
To add the NEA number to your claim on dentalxchange.com:
1. Go to dentalxchange.com and login
2. Select Claim Search
3. Select Claims with Validation Errors
4. Select Validation Error of claim you wish to add attachment number to
5. Select Edit Claim
6. Select Yes for question “Are radiographs and models enclosed”
7. Add number of attachments enclosed (1) and add NEA number copied from NEA FastAttach.
For a walkthrough, we would suggest reaching out to NEA at (800) 782-5150 option 3.
You can also reach out to a DentalXChange support representative at (800) 576-6412 ext 452 to speak with a live representative between 6AM and 5PM PST.
Thank you from DentalXChange
