Post by steveng » Wed Dec 26, 2007 10:54 am

Hi.

Is there a manual on how to use the new Auto Notes feature?
Thanks,
Steven G.

As soon as I get back from vacation, I'll be working on the manual for 5.4 and 5.5

Its just been posted here: http://www.open-dent.com/manual/autonotes.html

I highly recommend filling out the Auto Note while working on the patient. The assistant could do this while waiting for anesthesia and finish while doctor is giving post op.

Have a Happy New Year!

Scrolling bar in Auto Note

Post by fmr » Tue Jan 08, 2008 5:15 am

I really like the new auto note feature! It takes some time to set up, but once you figure it out, it's easy. The problem I'm having is that even though there is a scroll bar in the Auto Note display box, it doesn't allow me to scroll to the bottom of my the box. I have to grab the edge of the box to expand it so that I can get to the okay button. Could this be fixed? I use a touch screen and it's not as easy to navigate around this issue as it is with a mouse. Would it also be possible to create a multiple choice ComboBox feature? Thanks for the time and effort put into this new feature!

The POTENTIAL for the Auto Notes Feature is tremendous!!!

A few things:

It would be nice to be able to edit combo box control options. I would like to be able to edit spellings and re-order the options (move up, move down) similiar to the ability to edit other control options in Open Dental.

Also would like to be able to preview/test the auto note somehow while I am configuring/setting them up.

As it is now I have been simulating adding them to a note in my own chart to test them which works fine; so that is not that big of a deal.

Anyway, awesome addition to Open Dental. Thanks for the efforts!!!

Hello again!
I was planning on adding those things you suggested but needed to take a break because of school.

I did fix this but I guess did not make it into 5.4. Its an easy fix.

I'll try to work on this sometime this week.

This is a little harder to do and might take a while.

Thanks for your help on this project!

Another thing that I thought of:

Being able to use an auto note wherever we can currently place a quick note. I would especially be interested in placing an auto note into the large medical history text box.

I'm sure this is considered cheating, but as my pal Clint said, "A man's got to know his limitations."

Could someone that is actually using this feature send me a copy of their Auto Notes file so I can see how to do this. Frankly, I just don't get it.

Cheers!!!!

Hi,
The Auto-Notes look like a great addition to Open Dental. I was wondering if the addition of color to the text is doable?

Thanks

Hello hitek_dental!
That sounds like an interesting idea! Could be awhile for it to be implemented though as I've decided to take a break for a while. I might try to add a lot more features during the summer though. Thanks for all of the feedback!

EDIT:@Dr. Sparks: That is true I never thought about that. In that case it could be a while.

That's been planned for a long time. It's certainly possible, and we've done some work on that (I personally spent an entire week on it). It's hard to explain why it's so complicated other than to simply point out that the .Net framework does not directly support it. So we have to write the logic all from scratch. Our strategy is to use the Rich Text Format, supporting only certain parts of it. We have to parse it manually. Anyway, enough techie talk. It's just a matter of time until it happens.

EagleWing, the scroll bar problem still isn't fixed in version 5.5. The bar is too long so even if I expand the auto note box, the scroll bar doesn't allow me to see all the options that I've created and I can't click on the ok button. I hope a update can fix this this soon.....
