Hi,
I'm transitioning a 3 operatory practice from paper charts to digital. My first step is networking the office and purchasing computers / HW. Has anyone used OD on a PC stick? Here's an example device http://www.amazon.com/dp/B018GWVOGC that has 2GB RAM, 32GB SSD, and runs Windows 10. The $140 price point and small form factor are very appealing, but I'm not sure something with these specs would run OD very well (it seems to exceed the minimum system requirements) Is anyone running OD on a similar setup?
While I'm at it, any suggestions on a digital sensor? I'm leaning towards the SuniRay2 and Dr. Suni software.
Thanks
Erik
HW - PC Stick
Re: HW - PC Stick
I have not tried the PC Stick with Open Dental but one of the selling points for Open Dental is the fact that it will run on our slower and older hardware. This means we only have to replace computers as they die instead of buying all new computers just to be able to run the latest version of other practice management programs. All things considered, it looks like a good bet. The one thing I would recommend is that you get something a bit beefier for your server because that is where you are most likely to have a bottle neck.

Here you go . you got my attention. $99 US ($130 CAN). work great so far. playing youtube and download stuff at the same time. Opendent seems a hair slower than my powerful desktop as expect but perfectly fine. Will test the kodak xray when I am at the office. This would be my front desk tv and act as a spare pc
