Can't see tooth chart in demo-all gray

Post by jimmyjamesmt » Fri Feb 29, 2008 9:24 am

Hello from MT,

I am very excited about the idea of using an open source program. I feel like while dentrix, softdent, etc are nice, they are too expensive and pigeon-hole you into using their products.

I have a few questions. First, what am I doing wrong? I cannot view the tooth chart in the Chart section. I have changed it from 3D to 2D and initially that brought up the chart, but once I tried to use it, it grayed everything except the tooth numbers out. I tried adjusting colors under "definitions" without success. Help????

Second, I see about 20% TMD patients and thus bill under medical. Is it possible to make medical the primary insurance? Can I print HICFA's with this program? My wife can clarify this question, but she isn't here now, so I wanted to see what I could find out in the meantime.

Currently, I have Easy Dental. I have to say just from a visual stand point, Open Dental is much more pleasing to the eyes.

Last question, how do you do a data transfer into OD from Easy dent. I know for Softdent they charge $1200 and they supposedly write an algorithm or something that does this.

Thanks for the help

James

I had the same problem with the demo. Couldn't see the tooth chart. Try downloading it again. That helped me.

I would sort of have to see your screen to know what you are talking about. Did you select a patient? Did you accidentally mark all the teeth extracted? I don't think downloading it again will help.

See the Medical section. http://www.open-dent.com/manual/medicalins.html Yes, you can print HCFA forms.

We have a similar conversion process as any other dental software. We have invested enormous amounts of time into scripts and algorithms that automate the process so that it's very reliable. http://www.open-dent.com/manual/conversions.html

Thanks for the quick replys. I do not believe that I selected all the teeth, but I created another patient and I am not having that problem. Interestingly, when I created the first patient I did not select anything under charting, yet the section where the teeth are suppose to be was just white, with the BIG button present. The button only appeared when I went into Graphics and selected 3D instead of 2D.

With the Data conversion is it possible to select only certain things to carry over to OD. I acquired a practice that had several providers that I do not want to carry over to OD.

We can try. It makes it harder.
