Separate patients from insurance plans they are no longer attached to
Separate patients from insurance plans they are no longer attached to
I have been working on cleaning up our insurance database. The only thing I have not been able to accomplish is find a way to detach patients from plans they are no longer using. Because of this, I am not getting a realistic number of subscribers shown with each insurance plan. Does anyone know of a way to do this?
Re: Separate patients from insurance plans they are no longer attached to
We don't currently have a way to do this, but there is a request for a feature that would allow users to disassociate insurance plans from subscribers after the plan is dropped. If you would like to vote for this Feature Request, click on "Request Features" in Open Dental's Help menu and search for Request #11973. Please see the following manual page for more details on Feature Requests: https://www.opendental.com/manual/featurerequests.html

This request cannot be seen because the OP didn't vote for their post prior to hitting submit. I'm wondering if they were able to, because I tried re-doing a query request I made because I did not realize you had to vote for it to be visible to others. However, the field area where votes, weight, difficulty etc are "grayed out" and I cannot enter any info.

My apologies, I didn't notice that request 11973 has no votes and cannot be voted on by others. You can make a new request for this kind of feature and add your votes to that so that others may see it and vote on it.

I tried but there is no option to vote prior to hitting submit. Am I missing something?

Are you unable to edit the "Points" field in the upper right corner of the window? Or, are you seeing an error message when you try to click OK after entering the number of points that you want to allocate to your feature request?
Re: Separate patients from insurance plans they are no longer attached to
I am unable to edit the points field. That entire area of the screen is "grayed out". I can place the cursor in the box, but cannot type anything in.
Re: Separate patients from insurance plans they are no longer attached to
Are you attempting to enter into the total votes section?
There should be a section above that labeled "My Votes". That section should allow you enter points as well as show you the number of points remaining your office has available.

No, the area above the totals box is completely empty.
Re: Separate patients from insurance plans they are no longer attached to
You must be on an older version of Open Dental. There were some changes made to the Feature Request system in version 20.3. Prior to that version, a feature request would have to be submitted and then approved by Open Dental before it could be voted on. That is why you are seeing the empty area above the totals box. Updating to our most recent stable version should allow you to create and vote on feature requests at the same time.

Patiently waiting for Dr to run an update after a conversation w/ a rep last week. Hopefully that will fix the issue. Thanks!

I think there might be an ironic bug in the feature request system. Trying to get to it.

Our update is complete and I was able to successfully submit a request by adding my own votes.
