Open Dental randomly closes

Post by drtech » Wed Feb 19, 2025 6:55 pm

We are having more and more Open Dental random closures with no error message. Is there any way to track down what is going on or is anyone else having this issue? OD 24.2.44

same...random closures...seems like every 30 minutes or so...very annoying having to reopen open dental all the time.

running win11 24H2 on most computer, although win10 and win11 22H2 on some seem to do the same thing

we do have one plugin, convergedcomm/pt express running

No one else has these issues?

I think we solved the problem...it wasn't open dental, it was a plugin I believe. No crashes for the past few hours (it was every 5-30 minutes before this)

for any Pt Express users - be sure to update your server program regularly for pt express as well as your client plugin...that was the problem. It was out of date.

That being said, is there a better way to catch errors for plugins that close Open Dental with no errors or reporting as to what is going on?

It's one reason why we've been trying to deprecate plug-ins. They are not a good idea for stability of the program or of the database.
