How do you do it??

Post by thielbar1 » Tue Oct 27, 2009 7:59 am

I'm looking for help on how offices do cancellations/no shows.....I use the button on the right hand side to make an X through the appt. and make a note on it but this note does not show in the progress notes or on a statement. We also came up with our own codes for different excuses and we can make a note and it will show in the progress notes, but my problem with doing both is when you look at the account or progress notes it looks like the patient has more no shows/cancellations due to it going in twice. I like to use the X button on the schedule to have record of where patient was in the schedule.
Please help with your ideas!!
Thank you,
Lindy @ Dr. Scott Thielbar

The broken appointment will indeed show on a statement as an adjustment if you do it right. Do you have an adjustment type entered for broken appts on this window?

You're right, it won't show in the progress notes.

we have it make a comm log entry instead of the adj type (I know not Jordan's preferred way) but then it does show in the progress notes rather than the account, which is what we wanted.

The reason I think that's a bad idea is because one of these days we will release a version that has actual objects that represent broken appointments. And when we do, we will use the old adjustment entries to create a somewhat accurate history of broken appointments. Anyone who tracks broken appointments some other way will be left in the dust with no history. We're trying to make sure the transition will be good.

We click on "Break Appt" so it makes the entry in the Account module, then we delete the appointment and make a patient note that will appear in the progress notes.
