Questions about Converting... and Trial Program Crash

Post by gongguy » Tue Aug 05, 2008 9:30 am

Hi!

I was wondering a few things.... Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated!

1) Does anyone have experience and converting information from a program called TCE?

2) Is there a bridge or something that allows me to use Dexis?

3) When I run the demo, everything seems to work fine... except the appointment book seems to flicker every once and a while... then the program crashes and I suffer a BSD. I have an ATI x1800 series graphics card, with the newest driver... AMD 64, X2 Dual Core, WinXp Pro SP2... where do I find help with this sort of technical problem!

Thanks again... I'm really impressed with the depth of features of this program... simply amazing!

1. You could call our conversion department to discuss that. aka The Complete Exam.
2. Yes. see http://www.open-dent.com/manual/programlinks.html
3. The Appointment module should not flicker, and it should certainly never crash. A BSD is way way way beyond what any bug in Open Dental could possibly cause. I'm 95% sure it's an ATI driver bug. You could try turning off our balloon popups on appointments to reduce the load on the graphics card. I've seen lots and lots of this sort of thing with ATI cards, but never with NVIDIA cards. Just something to think about.

yes, it is almost certainly with a video card. I have yet to nail it down to what card/driver/etc..., but on one of my 13 systems, the screen flickers...but only when two copies are running on dual monitors...

Hi! I just thought I would throw this out there...

I was able to hunt down the crashing problem... that also had this strange effect that would make the appointment screen sort of shift down and to the left and blink at random moments.

It was actually not the video card or drivers. After updating various drivers, installing a different video card, and other various fiddling around. I was able to isolate the problem to some conflict with the Intellipoint driver that came with my Microsoft mouse. Once I removed it, everything was stable and functional. I guess I"m the only one to have this problem... but I figured I would post something, just in case somewhere down the line someone else has a similar problem!

Oh, I remember that Intellipoint issue now. Your description didn't quite jog my mind at the time.

Hi, Just wanted to let you know that I just fixed the flickering screen by removing the Intellipoint driver that came with my Microsoft mouse. Updating other drivers did not help.
