Letter merge on workstations

Post by fishdrzig » Tue Dec 16, 2008 5:57 am

I have been entering my letters that need fill-ins, dollar amounts, more than one page etc.... into the Server that has Word 2007 installed on it. None of my workstations have Word, but have Open Office. Will I be able to use the letter merge function from the workstations or do I need Word installed on each one?

You'll need Word on the workstations where you want to create letters.

Word is not a network application, but is licensed per computer. Open Office won't work for the handy letter merge button in Open Dental. But you can use it to create merge letters from the data file exported from Open Dental, since it's a standard tab-delimited text file.

He's saying you can create your data file, and then manually create the merge. That way, you could use Open Office.
