Multiple treatment plans

Post by hazmat » Wed Jul 15, 2009 1:13 am

What is the best way to handle different treatment plan options. For example, if I wanted to treatment plan a two surface filling on a baby tooth, but there was a question as to whether a pulpotomy and crown might be necessary. I would like to see the MO show on the chart, but be able to submit pre-authorization for the pulp & crown to insurance. I thought maybe I could enter the treatment plan for pulp/crown for pre-authorization and then delete and enter MO treatment plan with a note in the white box. This is a bit of a pain though. Anybody have a better idea?
Thanks

Good question!! I was wondering how to give patients different choices on a tx plan. Some patients want to see amalgam vs. composite or if we are giving the patient the choice between root canal, core and crown vs. extraction. If you put it all on one tx plan it is confusing to the patient to what they actually have to pay and then if there is a deductible involved it comes out on the first thing posted, so the numbers are not right if they do not go with the first thing on the tx plan. So on those cases I'm making at least 2 different tx plans and having to enter tx then go in and delete it and add other tx....takes to much time to do all this!
Help!
Thank you

Are you the same person who asked this on Dental Town? The issue has been addressed, right?

No, first time asking this question, but I'll see if I can find the dental town post for some ideas.

We usually just scan all possible tx plans and put them under a title called pending tx plans. I usually have the pt choose which way they are leaning and pre-cert that tx plan only
