Setting future appointments complete

Post by atd » Wed Dec 16, 2009 1:13 pm

We have a whole group of new users on Open Dental and one of the things I've seen happen a few times is that they accidentally set a future scheduled appointment complete rather than today's appointment. I can't think of a reason that you'd ever want to complete a future appointment - can that be blocked or at least have a warning message come up?

We've had that happen here too. Great way to improve the bottom line on paper <G>.

Yes. A request would help us keep track of it, even if nobody votes for it.

We have actually had some issues with this also. We have found that if a patient is treatment planned or scheduled for an appointment in the future, then has to come in early due to an emergency and we complete that service, it completes for the future date instead of that day.....this had been an issue for our office, that doesnt really make sense. Why wouldnt it complete for the days date that you complete the work??

Well, if the procedures are attached to that future appointment, you have to detach them and attach them to the correct appointment. Or else you have to move the appointment in question. I think the problem is that you are completing procedures instead of appointments. That capability is disabled by default for the very reason you are complaining about. I would suggest disabling it again at the lower right of Module Setup.
