Is there anyway to have the full facial patient photo pop up on the screen when the name is chosen, so a new front desk person will know who is actually in the waiting room?

Yes. Put the image in the Patient Pictures category in the Images module. It will show in the Family module and in the Appt module.

is anyone using a simple web cam to ccapture these pt photos directly into OD? I have purchased several web cams and none of them seem to import directly into OD? suggestions please?

We'll have to add it as a feature. Not sure if it's already in the feature request system.

We have used a Labtec Webcam 2200 to capture stills of patients and put into the Patient Photo. After installation, you launch the TWAIN driver as source by hitting one of the "Scan:" buttons in the image module (though intended for scanners). In this case, there's a choice of Webcam 2200 or WIA (with fewer options). TWAIN allows various devices to be accessed directly as image sources, so I would think other webcams would work also.

all of the cameras i have purchased will drop the photo into a file and then you can import it. What i want is a direct import.

I'm curious as to how many users take photos (portraits) of their patients. If you do, who on your staff does it? Office or clinical staff? Do any patient's object to it? Do you think it's worth the time it takes?

use a digital camera, plug in the USB cable, import, done..takes about 30 seconds....we do it for every pt, been doing it for 4 years...works great...yes, worth it 100% The assistants do it right after seating pt or before they leave the chair on 1st visit ideally or 2nd visit if they forget.

Drtech sorry charlie we do that but that doesn't capture the photos for guarantors who are not patients. and its much easier to standardize it at the check in with a web cam at the front desk. We need it because of the number of foster parents that are associated with some of our kids.
