growth of forms

Post by jrpappy » Tue Apr 13, 2010 11:12 am

Could someone explain to me the difference btwn global and local growth?

Also, I wonder if Sheets doesn't need some kind of built in scroll bar. I find that when using a form with input textbox and growth behavior, if there is enough text being input, the box grows out of the window with no way of seeing what is being typed.

If I'm doing something wrong, please let me know.

Well, the text can't make the box grow larger than the page. That could be solved some day when we support multiple pages. Global growth is the one typically used. Local growth is only used for things like second address line, where you just want the city to move down a line without shifting the other elements on your sheet.

I've noticed that almost all my sheet elements need global growth to keep the lower case letters that go below the line to keep from getting cut off.

Maybe you're just not making them tall enough initiall for the font size.

I thought I'd post my question on this thread since it's related to the original question about growth of text on sheets.

I have a static text box on my sheet with a separate signature box below it. As the static text box grows, the sheet pushes the signature box further down the page, which is what most people would want to happen.

My problem occurs when I make the static text box smaller (i.e. type less information into the box). The signature box remains where it was originally pushed down to and no matter what I do I can't get it to migrate back up the page.

I've posted a sample letter showing how the signature box remains low on the page when the static text box is shortened.

How can I get the signature information to automatically migrate back up the sheet if the static text box size is reduced?

Having the fields below the item that grew move back up to their original location is not currently functionality that we have in the sheet window. This would be something that you could submit a feature request for. If you are interested, here is a link that discusses the feature request process:

Hope this helps!
